After 30 years with her partner, Diane had every reason to wonder what life would look like next.

Northwest Place wrapped up its flower garden tour with one final stop: Oregon’s International Rose Test Garden, right here in Portland. 🌹

Known as the Rose City, Portland gave residents the perfect setting to admire hundreds of rose varieties in every color. Even with a little rain, the blooms stood out beautifully, making this a fitting finale to a garden tour full of color, fresh air, and plenty worth stopping to see.

Another stop in Northwest Place's exploration of Oregon brought residents to the beautiful Iris Garden!🪻

The group arrived just after the rain had passed, leaving fresh droplets clinging to the blooms. The irises seemed to embody a quiet contradiction, delicate in appearance yet standing tall with remarkable presence. It was another lovely opportunity to slow down and discover a new corner of the 130-acre garden!

NWP residents toured the Belmont Historical Firehouse in SE Portland for a look at Portland’s fire service history! 🚒

The museum gave our residents the chance to see real firefighting equipment and interactive exhibits. They also got to hear stories from the people and stations that helped shape local fire safety. It was part history lesson, part community outing, and a good reminder of the work that has protected Portland for generations!

A house can hold a lot more than furniture! 🪑

For Bill, downsizing meant facing years of memories, keepsakes, and the weight of deciding what still belonged in the life ahead of him. It was not an easy process, but it helped lead him to a place where he could keep the freedom he wanted without carrying the full responsibility of a house.

At SRG Senior Living, that next chapter came with more ease, more support, and room to live lighter.
