A wish come true for Gillian! 💦 🏊

Gillian’s wish was to return to aqua aerobics — something she loved and enjoyed for many years. Keeping active has always been an important part of Gillian’s life, from dancing and swimming to walking and, of course, aqua aerobics.

We were delighted to take Gillian back to Bentley Country Park Leisure Centre, where she used to attend her classes. The pool holds so many special memories for Gillian and her family, and there was an extra-special connection… all of Gillian’s grandchildren had their very first swim and learned to swim in this very same pool! 🥰

Gillian’s daughter Angela and son Chris joined us for the day, sharing wonderful memories of family swimming trips and time spent together in the café afterwards — the simple moments that become treasured memories.

It was a joy to see Gillian revisit a place that has played such an important part in her life, creating a new memory while surrounded by so many old ones.

🎉 W/C 5th October - OKTOBERFEST WEEK!!! 🥨🍻🇩🇪

We’ll be bringing a little taste of Oktoberfest to Silversprings throughout the week with lots of fun activities for our residents! But Thursday 8th October is the day you won’t want to miss! We’re inviting families, friends and our lovely community to join us for an Oktoberfest Fancy Dress Day & Food Tasting! Expect plenty of laughter, delicious German-inspired treats, fabulous fancy dress and, of course, lots of Oktoberfest spirit! 🎶💃 So dust off your lederhosen, grab your best dirndl and come and celebrate with us!

🎉 Friday 23rd October - WEAR IT PINK 🩷🩷🩷

We’ll be turning Silversprings wonderfully pink as we come together for Wear It Pink Day and would love for our residents, families and friends to join us! 🌸 We encourage everyone to wear something pink and help us brighten the day while supporting such an important cause. We’ll also have a donation bucket available for anyone who would like to make a contribution. Every little bit helps, and we’d love to see as much pink as possible around the home! 💕

🎉 Tuesday 27th October - Dementia Cafe ☕

Our Dementia Café takes place on the last Tuesday of every month, from 3.00pm–4.30pm, and everyone is welcome! Whether you’re caring for a loved one with dementia, supporting a friend or simply looking for a friendly face and a welcoming place to have a cuppa, we’d love to see you. Come along for a chat, share experiences, ask questions, or simply enjoy some company with others who understand. It’s a relaxed and informal space to connect, support one another and enjoy a cuppa together. 🫖

We’re delighted to be welcoming the fabulous Shar Cooterie back to Silversprings for another afternoon of Drag Bingo, singing, laughter and fabulous entertainment! 💃✨ Get ready to sing along, have a giggle and maybe even try your luck at bingo! 🎤

🎉 Friday 30th October - Halloween Party 👻👹🎃

Get ready for a spook-tacular Halloween celebration at Silversprings! 🕷️🕸️ We’re inviting residents, families and friends to dress to impress (or scare!) and join us for a fang-tastic get-together. We’ll be serving up a wickedly good lunch of jacket potatoes, chilli, hot dogs and plenty of sweet treats, all for a small contribution of £3 per person. 🌭🍫🎃 The home and gardens will be dressed up for the occasion, so come and take a creepy stroll around, soak up the spooky atmosphere and see what ghoulish surprises you can spot! 👀🧙‍♀️ Whether you come as a witch, wizard, ghost or ghoul, we promise it’ll be a boo-tiful afternoon full of fun, food and laughter! 🧡 No tricks… just treats!
